Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin
I've only visited Michigan for on business trips but have been to Detroit and Sault Ste. Marie. With a population of approximately 10 million, Michigan is the tenth most populous of the 50 U.S. states, the 11th most extensive by area, being slightly larger than the United Kingdom.
Michigan is the only state to consist of two peninsulas. The Lower Peninsula is shaped like a mitten. The Upper Peninsula (often called "the U.P.") is separated from the Lower Peninsula by the Straits of Mackinac, a five-mile (8 km) channel that joins Lake Huron to Lake Michigan. The Mackinac Bridge connects the peninsulas. Michigan has the longest freshwater coastline of any political subdivision in the world, being bordered by four of the five Great Lakes, plus Lake Saint Clair. It also has 64,980 inland lakes and ponds.

I've made several trips to Minnesota for business but I've had time during those trips to explore!
This is a long form text area designed for your content that you can fill up with as many words as your heart desires. You can write articles, long mission statements, company policies, executive profiles, company awards/distinctions, office locations, shareholder reports, whitepapers, media mentions and other pieces of content that don’t fit into a shorter, more succinct space.
Articles – Good topics for articles include anything related to your company – recent changes to operations, the latest company softball game – or the industry you’re in. General business trends (think national and even international) are great article fodder, too.
Mission statements – You can tell a lot about a company by its mission statement. Don’t have one? Now might be a good time to create one and post it here. A good mission statement tells you what drives a company to do what it does.
Company policies – Are there company policies that are particularly important to your business? Perhaps your unlimited paternity/maternity leave policy has endeared you to employees across the company. This is a good place to talk about that.
Executive profiles – A company is only as strong as its executive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.
Minneapolis - Mall of America
I was one of the lucky few to visit Prince's home, Paisley Park on the first week the family decided to open it up to the public. I was in Minneapolis on business and caught the news of the beginning of tours while watching the morning news. I immediately got online and ordered a ticket for that night. Apparently, the family was not able to immediately secure the proper permits to turn Prince's home into a museum. I was able to take the amazing tour that night but the city forced the family to stop all ticket sales until they had the proper permits so, I was on one of the first and last tours for several weeks. After many court battles and several months, they secured the proper permits and began operating regular tours. At the time I took the tour, there were no photos allowed inside and even went to the extent of making everyone turn over their cell phones at the door. The photos in the gallery below are those I took the morning before the tour (outside his place) and the night of the tour until I entered the foyer. I did buy a tour book of Paisley Park and a tambourine and have included photos of those as well...enjoy!
Made two trips to South Dakota for business but was able to see Mt. Rushmore and some very cool mining towns from the old west and a state park.

I saw on a business trip to a Fort Meade but was able to catch this amazing place!
Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a massive sculpture carved into Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills region of South Dakota. Completed in 1941 under the direction of Gutzon Borglum and his son Lincoln, the sculpture's roughly 60-ft.-high granite faces depict U.S. presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
I had a business trip to the VA Hospital in Fort Meade and was able to stay in a hotel in Deadwood for the three night stay! Lot's of "old west" history in Deadwood.
Deadwood is a city in South Dakota known for its gold rush history. Mount Moriah Cemetery has the graves of Wild West figures like Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane. Exhibits at the Adams Museum include a huge gold nugget and a plesiosaur fossil. The 1892 Historic Adams House is a Victorian mansion with original features. South of town, the George S. Mickelson Trail leads through the Black Hills National Forest.

Custer State Park is a South Dakota State Park and wildlife reserve in the Black Hills, United States. The park is South Dakota's largest and first state park, named after Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer. The park is home to a herd of 1,500 bison as well as Elk, coyotes, deer, bighorn sheep and cougars.
Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer was a graduate of West Point in 1861 and fought in the Civil War. After the war, Custer was appointed a lieutenant colonel in the Regular Army and was sent west to fight in the Indian Wars. On June 25, 1876, while leading the 7th Cavalry Regiment at the Battle of Little Bighorn in Montana Territory against a coalition of Native American tribes, he was killed along with all of the five companies he led after splitting the regiment into three battalions. This action became romanticized as "Custer's Last Stand".

I've been to several small towns in Wisconsin as well as the city of Madison, all for business
On a business trip to Wisconsin (in February!) , I flew into Eau Claire to visit a customer site, then drove to Marshfield for a visit to another customer site. I snowed most of the trip but was a nice visit to both towns. Mostly farmland, Thorpe is about halfway between Eau Claire and Wausau, WI.
